Harlo's Mermaid Rag-doll - Free Crochet Pattern

So I have been trying to think of ways to use up all of my scrap yarn lately and one night a couple weeks ago I was feeling creative and was looking at my yarn stash and a few colors jumped out at me and said "MERMAID!" So I got to work making this gem!

When I first started making this doll I didn't really have any intention on writing up a pattern but she came out so cute that I couldn't stop at just one! So below I have written up the instructions to make your very own mermaid rag-doll! Also, to talk about my inspiration for the name, in church I teach the 4 year olds and there is this sweetheart named Harlo in my class. As I made my first mermaid I couldn't help but think of her and so I gifted the first doll to her and the second I made to her sister.

Tread tail of yarn through yarn needle and sew together top of head, do not cut, bring yarn through middle of head and bring your needle out where you want to place nose.

Nose:
wrap yarn horizontally around 2 hdc approx 6x, take needle under horizontal yarn and wrap around all 6 strands vertically until you get your desired look.

Hair: there are so many ways to attach hair but I love this easy tutorial by the friendly red fox!

Eyes: I embroidered my eyes using the method I also learned from the friendly red fox! this link has multiple useful tips and tricks!

Shirt: look at the stitches on the front of your doll made with color c, find the center 7 stitches, attach yarn in color c to the right of the rightmost stitch, fphdc in those 7 stitches, ch 10 (or as many as you need to wrap around the neck), ss to first fphdc, fasten off and weave ends.
and voila! You have yourself your very own handmade mermaid rag-doll! If you have any questions leave a comment or email me @ hoopes.handmade@gmail.com
